Cytoxan
Cytoxan is prescribed for the treatment of some cancers like leukaemia, lymphoma, multiple myeloma, mycosis fungoides, eye cancer, ovarian cancer, breast cancer and neuroblastoma. The drug is usually prescribed in combination with other medicines.
Cytoxan has to be only taken as per your doctor’s prescription. The drug has to be taken with food to get rid of any stomach upset. Do not miss any dosage and do not stop the drug in the midst of a dosage without consulting your doctor.
Before the doctor prescribes Cytoxan, you have to tell him everything about your health conditions. Tell him if you have bone marrow problems, liver or kidney problems, suppressed immune system and low levels of blood clotting cells. Do not hide from your doctor if you have had got chemotherapy, cytotoxic or if your adrenal gland is removed.
Pregnant women and those persons hoping to get pregnant soon should have to take the drug only after consulting the doctor. Breast-feeding mothers should avoid Cytoxan as the drug is seen in the breast milk.
The drug is not prescribed if you are taking tumor necrosis factor (TNF) blocking medicines. One important thing to be noted when taking Cytoxan is not to get hurt or injured. This is because Cytoxan reduces the number of blood clotting cells in the body. The drug also affects the body’s immunity and so it is better not to come in contact with persons who have fever, cold or any other infection. Cytoxan is also known to cause infertility.
