Indocin

People who have rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis are administered Indocin. The drug is also given for the treatment of gout and some types of tendonitis and bursitis.

When you take Indocin, you should have to follow your doctor’s prescription. Do not miss a dose and do not discontinue in the middle of a course. The drug should be taken with food to avoid stomach upsets.

Before your doctor prescribes Indocin, inform him if you have a history of problems related to the liver, kidney or heart. Tell him if you have diabetes, blood cell problems, clotting disorder, bowel problems, Parkinson disease, high blood pressure, and asthma.

You should also convey to your doctor if you have high potassium levels and low sodium levels. Do not hide from your doctor if you drink alcohol or if you have a history of alcohol abuse.

Indocin causes harm to the fetus and so pregnant women and those who hope to get pregnant should avoid the drug. It is also not safe to breast feed while taking Indocin as
the drug is traced in breast milk.

If you are allergic to aspirin or to any NSAID, your doctor will not prescribe Indocin. The drug will also be not given if you have had a recent bypass surgery.

When talking Inducin, you may come experience bleeding and ulcers in the stomach. These can worsen if the drug is taken for a longer period or if high doses are taken. Smoking and drinking also adds to the high risk.
