Isosorbide Mononitrate
Isosorbide Mononitrate is a drug given to prevent angina caused by heart disease. The drug can be taken with or without food. The doctor’s normally prescribe two doses a day, which has to be taken in a gap of seven hours.
Always follow the doctor’s direction; do not take more or less. Once you feel better after a few weeks, do no stop the drug in the middle as it can only complicate matters.
Well, before the doctor prescribes Isosorbide Mononitrate, you should have to tell him about all your medical conditions so that he can take a decision on the prescriptions. Tell him if you have any blood related problems, heart complications, bleeding of brain low blood pressure or if you have over active thyroid.
It is quite a risk to take the drug when pregnant and if hoping to get pregnant. It is better to discuss with your doctor about all complications related to taking the drug while pregnant. Though it is not known if the drug is excreted into breast milk, it is better to discuss about the effects that the drug will have on your babe before nursing. Isosorbide Mononitrate are not prescribed for children.
As Isosorbide Mononitrate interacts with other drugs, you have to inform your doctor about all the medications that you take before he prescribes the drug. While taking the drug, avoid alcohol.
The drug may also interfere with some lab tests. So inform the lab technician and the doctor that you are on Isosorbide Mononitrate medication before any test is done.
