The drug is used for reducing inflammation and also for reducing the symptoms in a variety of disorders like ulcer, lupus, psoriasis, asthma and ulcerative colitis.
How Taken
Deltasone should be taken as per your doctor’s prescription. The drug should be taken with food to prevent stomach upset. The drug should not be stopped suddenly.
Warnings/Precautions
Before Deltasone is prescribed, you have to tell your doctor about all your medical conditions. Your doctor should have to know if you have any allergies to any particular medicine, food or to any substance, including the ingredients in Deltasone.
Tell your doctor if you have have kidney or liver diseases; heart problems; high blood pressure; hypothyroidism; ulcerative colitis; stomach ulcers; diverticulitis; osteoporosis;
Diabetic mellitus; myasthenia gravis and if you have any psychiatric conditions.
Pregnant woman and those who are planning to get pregnant should have to take Deltasone only after discussing with the doctor the risks and benefits of the drug during pregnancy. Breast-feeding mothers should also be cautious while taking the drug.
It is also known that certain medicines interact with Deltasone. So it is better to inform your doctor about all the medications that you are taking.
Deltasone should be avoided if you have severe viral, bacterial or fungal infections. The drug is also known to weaken the body's immunity power. When you are on Deltasone medication, do not go for smallpox vaccination or any other immunization.
Alcohol should be avoided while you are on Deltasone medication.
Missed Dose
There is no need to worry if you have missed any dosage. Take the missed dose when you remember it. If it is almost time for the next dosage, leave the missed one and continue with the regular dosage. Do not mix two doses.
Overdose
Obesity, increased hair growth, acne, increased blood pressure, bruising, swollen hands, feet, or ankles and sore or weak muscles are some of the symptoms of Deltasone overdose. Better consult your doctor if you suspect a overdose.
More Information
Deltasone causes dizziness. This can worsen if Deltasone is mixed with alcohol or taken along with certain medications. It is better not to drive or perform any hard tasks until you know the effect of the drug.
