Drug Uses
The drug is prescribed for the treatment pain and inflammation caused by injury to tendons, muscle, ligaments and joints. The drug is also prescribed for sprains, muscle aches, backache and arthritis.
How Taken
Take
Voltarol as directed by the doctor. The drug can be taken with food to avoid any stomach pain. Magnesium containing antacids should be avoided while taking the drug.
Warnings/Precautions
Before the drug is prescribed, it is better to inform your doctor about all your present and past health history. Tell your doctor if you have any allergies to any substance, food or any medicine.
You should have to inform your doctor if you have bone marrow depression, asthma, canker sores, bleeding, destruction of tissue in the stomach/intestines, porphyria, lupus,
heart disease, bleeding problems, ulcer problems and high blood pressure. Do not hide from your doctor if you drink alcohol.
You should never become pregnant while taking Voltarol as the drug is known to cause harm to the unborn babe. You should also not breast feed as the drug is excreted into breast milk.
Inform your doctor if you are on any other medication as certain medicines are known to interact with Voltarol. The drug is also sensitive to sun and therefore avoid sunlight, tanning booths and sum lamps. If going out, wear some protective clothing and also apply some sunscreen lotion or creams.
Voltarol is also known to effect the blood sugar level and so continuous monitoring is needed while taking the drug. The drug is not prescribed for children as its effects in children are yet to be confirmed.
Missed Dose
If a dose is missed, take it before the next dosage. But if time for your regular dosage, skip the missed one. Always take care that you do not take two doses at the same time.
Overdose
Convulsions, diarrhea, dizziness, drowsiness, difficult breathing, fever, nausea, sleepiness, stomach pain, tremor, fast and slow heartbeat are some of the symptoms of Voltarol over dosage. If you suspect of taken an over dose, seek immediate medical attention.
More Information
Voltarol causes dizziness. These effects worsen if the drug is taken along with alcohol or with other medicines. It is better not to drive or perform any hard task after taking the drug.
Always follow your doctor’s direction while taking the drug. The drug should only be taken by those for whom it has been prescribed.
